What has this year got in store for you? Is this going to be another year that happens or a year that you are going to make happen?

The choice is yours to chart your future success. Nothing happens with out a clear plan of action a plan that needs to have clear written goals with a deadline.

Your Goals Work Like Magic

There is a study of alumni 10 years out of Harvard that showed a stunning 83 percent had degrees but no goals as all, 14 percent had defined, specific objectives for themselves, but never wrote them down.

The group with goals earned an average of three times the income of the group without them.

But Here Comes The Blow Away Stat

The remaining 3 percent of the graduates who had specific goals AND wrote them down, earned an average of 10 times what the 83 percent group did.

We have to assume the same principle is true for all of us. When you write goals down in clear, precise terms, in activates your reticular activation system or RAS. Understanding that your RAS is like a scanner in your brain and it looks for what you tell it to focus on. It filters out distractions and focuses on what you do want. It becomes a logical step in the goal setting process and offers a process for setting goals.

When you commit yourself to written goals you will have a destination to target. Setting precise goals will set your brain to achieve those goals. High achievers are not 10 to 20 times more intelligent than other people their power comes from the methods, resources and focus they use. Use these best practice tips to set your goals:

Develop Exactitude

Your goal shouldn’t be: “I want to make more money.” It’s too vague and subjective. What income do you want to make specifically? How much more specifically?

Determine The Most Important Things

If you list 20 goals for your financial future you might feel overwhelmed because you can’t achieve all of them right away, it just isn’t realistic. Instead, decide: What are the most important things on my list? Focus on those goals first.

Find A Mentor

Choose someone you respect and who has accomplished what you’re setting out to do. Then just ask would you be willing to mentor me? You can tell your prospective mentor how the mentoring relationship will benefit him or her too. You can contribute your talents free of charge, meet at the mentor’s office for convenience – any number of options. Just don’t let your fear of imposition get in the way of asking.

Firstly let me apologize that you have not received Mondays with Julie for a couple of weeks. The past few weeks have been a very sad time for us with the passing of Peter’s dad – Pop to all of us. We have spent most of the past month at his bedside in hospital and on the 29th of April he passed away. We held a lovely family funeral on Friday to say our final goodbyes. He is now pain free and in a much better place.

Yesterday was Mothers day and I hope you were all spoilt. Mothers our so special and I wanted to share with you a video clip that just gives a small insight to a typical day … enjoy!

This week Mondays with Julie is coming to you from Ayr North Queensland. Wow what a great weekend we had!

I arrived in Townsville on Saturday morning and was greeted by Wendy Murcia, we then drove an hour up the highway to Ayr. The rest of the day was spent catching up on news, training, laughing and having lots of fun!

On Saturday evening we went to a lovely little restaurant in Ayr where we enjoyed a beautiful meal with champagne. The dinner was a challenge that was put out based on sales and team building.

Up bright and early on Sunday ready for more training and a guest workshop in the afternoon. It was just great meeting new team members Melissa and Trinny we talked about what truly is possible in a Mary Kay business. We also talked about what is required to become skilled and the importance of setting weekly and monthly goals and having support and accountability to achieve those targets.

One of the highlights of our training on Sunday was a 30 minute call with National Sales Director Johneen Todd who held an open forum for the girls to ask any burning questions they had about their business. Thank you Johneen we really appreciate that you took time out of you day to share your journey in Mary Kay.

Melanie shared her vision about becoming a director and can hardly contain her excitement. She has a solid plan for growth over the coming quarter with a goal of earning a pearl for her ladder and a medal each month. Melanie is our special guest on this week’s Mondays with Julie.

Congratulations go to Wendy Murcia who is the quarters “Miss Go Give’ Wendy is so deserving of the award and for those of you who know her would agree.

I would like to thank the wonderful girls of the Davis Dream Team for their hospitality and support during the weekend. I also would like to thank Director Sandra Plant for coming along and supporting our workshop.

Well time for bed now as I have an early flight in the morning to go back to the Gold Coast. It is so wonderful having the technology to be able to upload this week’s video to youtube while on the road from Ayr to Townsville and then have Mondays with Julie sent and ready for you to watch it early Monday morning…I love technology I just wish I understood it !!!

This week’s theme is BE, HAVE, DO … hmm what is that all about I hear you ask!

So often we look at super achievers and wonder

• What have they got that I haven’t
• How come they are so talented
• How did they get so lucky
• It is Ok for them
• They have had all the breaks

And the list goes on and on!

What does it take to be a champion in life whether it is in business or in your personal life?

My personal belief is that it is more about … “Who” do we need to be. I guess a great example is Oprah was she born with more opportunity than the average person? Has she had to struggle more than anyone else? Did she have great lots of great connections that she did not have to work for success? Isn’t it funny how so many people who face adversity in their lives achieve the most amazing and outstanding success?

A few years ago I had the honour of meeting a gentleman who’s name is Nick Vujicic you may have heard of Nick as he has been featured on 60 minutes and has a huge following world- wide. I have a photograph of Nick and myself and when I feel things are just a little bit difficult all I need to do is look at Nick and then get on with the task a hand.

Today I was teaching ESRS and it got me to thinking about how blessed my life truly is. When I think back to who I was 29 years and the incredible impact that Mary Kay has had on who I have become. And all the amazing people I have met who have impacted positively on my life.

It all started with a decision to take a risk to step out of my comfort zone.

A decision that I will also understand that has underpinned my success. My point is that some times we need to take that very big step to believing in yourself and your abilities. Today I want you to take that step and BE the person you need to be to move forward to achieving your goals, dreams and desires.

So my question is what do you have to do to become that person?

What are the skills and qualities that you need to acquire to achieve your goals?

I am going to leave you to ponder that until next week.

I was planning to do a video for you this weekend but instead I have spent most of the weekend in bed with the flu!

However what I wanted to talk about this week is leaving money on the table! My question to you is what are you doing or not doing that is causing you to leave money on the table?

Here are just some of the things that can cause you to leave money on the table.

1. Not watching order levels

You can miss out on a couple of hundred dollars by not ordering at maximum commission. Sometimes it could only cost you $50 to get an additional $300 of product.

Product bonuses are great for either display products or hostess gifts.

Missing out on company function bonuses ESRS is a really good example of leaving money on the table. I have seen orders go through $40 short and you miss out on $300 of free product.

2. Not knowing your products

There are opportunities we miss because we don’t feel confident about our products and what they do. Do you know why the miracle set is the best selling range and the 11 key benefits of using the time wise range? How about the micro-dermabrasion set, do you know why it delivers such great results? Why do women spend hundreds of dollars for spa treatments when we can offer products that deliver incredible and dramatic results?

3. Not knowing the career opportunity

Did you know you could easily earn an extra $300 – $500 a month by talking advantage of Mary Kay’s career path. In these times there is not a better opportunity to share your Mary Kay story and offer that same opportunity to another woman.

4. Not knowing how to conduct a skin care class

Has it been a while? Could you do with a few extra hundred dollars a week or month? Polish up on your presentation and hold a class, facial or open home. My tip would be to get in front of the mirror or turn on the video camera or tape recorder.

These are just a few tips that will help your confidence and put money in the bank. I hope you have had a sensational week and that you have kicked some goals. I know some of you have because I have had some incredible phone calls this week! Last week we started talking about you creating your vision board. It was my intention that we would jump right in to doing that this week. I feel that we need to actually think about it before we run off and start with the scissors and paste.

A lot of us think more carefully about what we want to create for dinner than about what we want to create for our lives (To create a great meal you need to have all the right ingredients). The same goes for creating your life but only very few take the time to make sure they have the right ingredients to create an awesome life…. Sad but true!

OK can I ask you a couple of questions?

Q1. After Watching Last Week’s Video Did You?

Did you prepare for your vision board, or did you have good intentions?

The answer will be 20% of those who watched the video went out and got prepared to do their vision board. And then the other 80% of you had good intentions.

Do you know about the 80/20 rule? It has been proven over and over again that 20% of people get 80% of the results.

Q2. What Percentage Do You Want To Be In?

You get to choose if you want to be in the 20% or the 80% Let’s look at your Mary Kay business where are you spending 80% of you time?

The answer will be those who are not stepping up and achieving their goals spend the majority of their time doing activities that don’t count towards earning money. There are only three things that you need to focus on IF you want to create magic in your business…yep you know what they are:

• BOOKING
• TEAM-BUILDING
• SELLING

All of us have different goals and dreams and Mary Kay can fulfill them both personally and professionally.

We need to just look at those 168 hours we are all given every week and think about if we are using them to Create the Life of our Dreams?

So having said all of that I want you to collect the pictures, words and feelings to create your vision board so you can move powerfully towards creating the life of your dreams!

I want all your weeks to be sensational and contribute towards your success in life.  Often times we have a lot of “stuff” that gets in the way of us achieving our goals and desires…most of the stuff we have created.  This week I have been thinking about “my what and my why”…my 50th birthday is looming and I am approaching the most exciting and productive years ahead of me and I want to kick some seriously big goals.

This is a special journey of visioning and dreaming, are you with me?  OK you need to answer five questions and then do some preparation for next week. I really would love for you to join me and create a magical future full of possibilities.  So here are the questions: Please think about the answers from your heart and not your head, the take two pages of notes on each question to arrive at your answer.

1. If money, people’s opinions and judgments, and fear were not factors – what would I want to be, do or have?
2. What beliefs or things would I have to let go of if I were to create this in my life?
3. What would I have to believe in order to be, do or have these things?
4. How will I FEEL when I am, do, or have these things I want?
5. What does my heart really yearn for?

Answer these questions do your writing and then have the following items ready to go for next Monday

The Best Supplies for Creating A Powerful Vision Board

Your Poster Board

Purchase and artist canvas or a cork board you will want it to be about 600 x 600 I think I purchased mine from crazy clarks or the $2 shop you can even use a large sheet of cardboard if you can’t find one.

A Big Stack Of Different Magazines

Gather some magazines and brochures I also go to the travel agent and pick up some brochures. Anything that represents your dreams, goals and desires.

Glue

Get some craft glue and even some bluetac. You can also use any other little odds and ends that will add variety and texture to your vision board.

Music

I put on soft beautiful music when I do a Vision Board. It is important to be creative and allow your senses to flow. And a cup of tea or glass of wine (depending on the time of day). OK so get to work thinking  about what your vision board is going to look like.  But you are not allowed to start with out me! I am very excited about working together with you on this project and creating an awesome future full of happiness, achievement and contribution.
