This week Mondays with Julie is coming to you from Ayr North Queensland. Wow what a great weekend we had!

I arrived in Townsville on Saturday morning and was greeted by Wendy Murcia, we then drove an hour up the highway to Ayr. The rest of the day was spent catching up on news, training, laughing and having lots of fun!

On Saturday evening we went to a lovely little restaurant in Ayr where we enjoyed a beautiful meal with champagne. The dinner was a challenge that was put out based on sales and team building.

Up bright and early on Sunday ready for more training and a guest workshop in the afternoon. It was just great meeting new team members Melissa and Trinny we talked about what truly is possible in a Mary Kay business. We also talked about what is required to become skilled and the importance of setting weekly and monthly goals and having support and accountability to achieve those targets.

One of the highlights of our training on Sunday was a 30 minute call with National Sales Director Johneen Todd who held an open forum for the girls to ask any burning questions they had about their business. Thank you Johneen we really appreciate that you took time out of you day to share your journey in Mary Kay.

Melanie shared her vision about becoming a director and can hardly contain her excitement. She has a solid plan for growth over the coming quarter with a goal of earning a pearl for her ladder and a medal each month. Melanie is our special guest on this week’s Mondays with Julie.

Congratulations go to Wendy Murcia who is the quarters “Miss Go Give’ Wendy is so deserving of the award and for those of you who know her would agree.

I would like to thank the wonderful girls of the Davis Dream Team for their hospitality and support during the weekend. I also would like to thank Director Sandra Plant for coming along and supporting our workshop.

Well time for bed now as I have an early flight in the morning to go back to the Gold Coast. It is so wonderful having the technology to be able to upload this week’s video to youtube while on the road from Ayr to Townsville and then have Mondays with Julie sent and ready for you to watch it early Monday morning…I love technology I just wish I understood it !!!

Wow! What a brilliant month we had with unit sales over $11,000.00 well done to everyone who contributed to the AWESOME success of the Davis Dream Team.

I don’t know about you but I am a little excited about the momentum that is happening in our unit. We are in operation grow the energy around our unit is amazing!

Greetings From New Zealand!

Peter and I have just spent an amazing week in this beautiful country. I have really enjoyed some time out relaxing and taking it easy. It has been refreshing to be surrounded by such natural landscape and beauty.

This year has been fantastic so far I am inspired by so many of you living your dream and achieving some great results. I don’t know if you have the new foundations yet or not but the results I am hearing have been wonderful.

How Inspired Are You About Achieving Your Goals?

It’s pretty easy to set goals and while the initial energy is there we can take those first steps but when to going gets tough what happens? In most cases we give up on our goals and dreams as soon as it gets hard or a little uncomfortable we start justifying and making excuses.

This week I would love to share an inspiring story with you of Director Trish Price who had every reason to give up … but she didn’t take a minute to read her inspiring story.

TRISH PRICE – “I” STORY

Joined Mary Kay October 92… Before Mary Kay I had been a pharmacy girl, had also owned hotels and motels. We had been through a financially hard time and I only joined so I could get products at a discount and look after my family.

I had previously been a Mary Kay consultant, way back when my children were very young, but dropped out when we bought another business as I thought I wouldn’t have the time to spend in my Mary Kay business.

What a big mistake!! I often think I could have be another Norelle Turner‐Allen now if I had just stayed there.

Went to my first seminar as a Red Jacket in 94 and came back with the dream of becoming a Director. Back then we needed 12 personal team members to be a D.I.Q.

July to end of September I introduced 9 ladies and went DIQ 1st October 94.

My goal was to be a Director by the end of December, which meant I would do it in 3 months.

We had sold our home and we were building, it was getting close to Christmas and I was just so busy I decided I would take the extra month and finish in January… my Husband Gary was insistent that I stay with my plan and finish in December… so I worked really hard and did qualify as a Director as of January ‘95.

On the last day of my qualification Gary was quite ill and I wanted to take him to the Doctors but he would not let me do anything until the last order was faxed in (can you believe it… no on line orders then… all had to be faxed!!) when the last one was done he then said “you can take me to the Doctors now.”

The next afternoon he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given 2‐10 months to live.

How ironic that he made me stick to my goal, if he hadn’t I would never have been a Director.. Can you see now why I am a strong believer in GOALS.

January was the only month I have never placed an order and I certainly wouldn’t have finished qualification.

It was a very hard few months, Gary only lived till April and wasn’t here to see his children’s weddings that were planned for June & October. So we had a very emotional year.

Thank heavens for Mary Kay it was the only thing that kept me going some days.

My sister suffered from Bi polar and took her life just before Christmas, in 98 and my Mum was killed in a car accident in July the next year…once again it was Mary Kay that got me out the door each day, well most days .. some days I did have some pity parties, it was then that my children would bring me back to realty by letting me know there were people out there worse off than me. Don’t know if I actually believed it at the time, but it did make me get back to work.

I realised just what a difference Mary Kay had made in my life and I think that is one of the reasons I have done well in team building, as I think everyone deserves an opportunity to change their life or sometimes just a reason to keep on going.

I know if I didn’t have that reason to get out and earn money to pay the bills I could very easily have become a very bitter person sitting at home feeling sorry for myself.

I feel very blessed in my life… Mary Kay has given me trips away, I have made enough money that I have been able to do a lot of travelling… I have met some wonderful people and most importantly it has given me the flexibility to spend time with family that I love so dearly, and that is very special to me.

I know that if I were in any other JOB my life would never have been as fulfilling and I certainly wouldn’t be the happy person I am today.

I am away for the next seven days at a business coaching conference being held here on the Gold Coast. I am committed to becoming the best possible me and enjoy spending time with like minded people. Next week I will be introducing you to a couple of very special friends of mine who will share with you their journey and the fundamental things they have done to lead them to success.

Firstly on behalf of the Davis Dream team I would like to send love and huge hugs to our sister consultants and Directors on the South Island of New Zealand. We pray you are safe and well after the devastation from the earth quake in New Zealand last week. I know so many of you watch Monday’s with Julie so please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

After seeing such destruction of so many business’s in Christchurch that had invested hundreds of thousands of dollars it made me think; how fortunate we are to have a portable business that we can re start at any time and in any circumstance and at a very small investment. The security of knowing that the success of our business only depends on us dusting ourselves off and starting again. As women we have so much resilience and determination and Mary Kay offers us a career opportunity that is so suited to resilient women.

A Thought To Ponder!

Success is getting up one more time than you fall down! If you ask any successful person their recipe for success I can bet you they are not going to tell you they were just “plain lucky”. Success leaves clues and those clues will show you that they had a dream followed by a plan and tenacity. If you had a dream what would it be?

Julie’s Challenge

My challenge to you this week is to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable. Hmmm why would I say such a thing? If you do what you have always done you will get what you have always got. Start thinking outside the square and step up and start taking action.

Hello and welcome to this week’s Mondays with Julie.

I hope you had a sensational week. Mine was busy and productive with some great sales and one new team member. I have been thinking this week about how easy it is to get in to a rut and sacrifice your dreams.

Life gets so busy we forget to stop and think about what we really want and how can we add quality to our lives as well as the lives of others. I am just as guilty as you for getting caught up in life.

This week let’s look at where we are at and ask ourselves some really important questions.

• Am I feeling balanced and in control of my life?
• Do I feel like I am moving forward towards my goals and purpose?
• Am I making plans for my future or am I just floating along the river of life?
• Have I thought about where I want to be next month, next year or even in five years?
• Do I feel I am adding value to others?

It takes daily discipline and tenacity to focus on the bigger picture and sometimes you need to have a break with to have a break through. So what do I mean a break with for a break through?

Often we expect to get a different result by doing what we have always done, and then get frustrated and disillusioned when different results don’t show up.

This week I would love for you to take a good look at your future and ask yourself these very important questions. In order for my future to show up who do I need to become?

• What do I need to stop doing?
• What I need to start doing?
• What do I need to continue to do?

Look at what your goals are…and if you don’t have any GET SOME! And then ask yourself. How is your life going to look this time next year if you continue to do what you are doing NOW?

Lots of questions for this week!!!

Davis Dream Team Wins The Presidents Award!

Congratulations to the AMAZING Davis Dream team for being recipients of the Presidents’ Award. We have received this lovely award for achieving all three categories of Activity Productivity and Team Building for 6 months during Seminar Year 2009/10.

Well done and let’s see if we can do it again!

Next weekend I am getting to hang out with some awesome women here on the Gold Coast. One of the members of my business mentoring group Dr Maura McGill is holding a two day event called “A Magical Menopause” Yep… let’s all put our hands up for that one. So next week I will bring you some highlights and I am sure some great advice!

There is a buzz in the air! Lots happening and as we approach spring we are ready for new growth in our unit. So far August has been a busy month with lots of activity especially with all the beautiful product releases! The new pedicure set is sure to be a winner if the last one is anything to go on and the eye crayons have had great reviews.

Melanie has always been a superstar but has taken on a slower pace the past year or so while getting married, having a baby and moving in to her new home. This week Melanie resumed her Mary Kay business and held a class on Friday night with sales of almost $600 and one booking…well done Mel, so good to have you back.

Leslee McLeod had a lovely customer service appointment last week with one of her good clients who ordered almost $700 of products! I bet you would love to have such lovely and loyal customers.

The key to Leslee’s success is that she is so committed to having every one of her clients raving fans of our skin care range they just want to have it all!

Leslee and her husband Trevor and new addition of Brill (the most adorable German shepherd pup) are just about to relocate to the South Coast to their new home.  We wish you the best for your upcoming move!

I don’t know about you but I am so excited to about all the exciting announcements in this month’s Applause Magazine!  Applause is jam packed with new products, rewards and opportunities.
