Why Women Love Mary Kay
It has been a very busy last few weeks for me with a full on travel schedule. I have travelled through out Australia and New Zealand this month. I am currently on a very quick visit to Canberra to see my Dad while he is back in Canberra undergoing his rehabilitation after his amputation.
He is in very good spirits and I am in awe of how he has adjusted to losing his leg I am sure you will agree it is a pretty major event to have happen in your life. Recently I spent six weeks in plaster after breaking my foot and I know the level of frustration I felt during that time. For me there are some key lessons through watching my Dad the first is gratitude for what I have, we often do appreciate what we have until we no longer have it. The second lesson is that it is not what happens to you it is how you respond and react to it.
What is happening in your life at the moment that you can get some lessons from? And what do you need to be more grateful for? Each and every day I count my blessings to have a life that is so fulfilled and rich and to be surrounded by the most amazing people.
My challenge for you this week is to do a gratitude list write down all the amazing things you have in your life starting with the fact you have two beautiful eyes to be reading this with.
So what’s happening in Mary Kay!
It is getting really close to THAT time again … can you believe it is only a matter of three months to Christmas. Mary Kay will be launching its Christmas range early next month and I am sure they will not disappoint you with the new product releases. Be sure to order your products early, as the Christmas range is limited.
Have you checked the community page lately? There are so many tools and resources for you to use check out this style report.
Well I am off to the hospital now and then a quick drive to Sydney to catch an afternoon flight.
See you next week

Building A Mary Kay Business With Strong Foundations
Building a business with strong foundations is the key to success in any business. Your Mary Kay business is just the same. What better foundation to build your business on than our timewise range of foundation products.
Often the lack of success in your business comes from being ill prepared and lacking confidence and product knowledge in what you have to offer the market place. This week I thought it would be a great opportunity to re visit our new stunning range of foundation products and give you the tools so you can take your business to the next level should you choose.
Watch this short video on the correct application of foundation with beauty expert Luis Casco as he unveils the tips and tricks you can pass on to your customers
Quick question for you … are you using the new primer and foundation? If the answer is No the first step is for you to “fall in love” with these amazing products.
Invest some time in becoming an “expert” they say to be considered an expert you only need to know about 10% more than your customers.
Every woman wants the perfect foundation but only about 17% of women are wearing the correct shade of foundation. I would say that might be an amazing opportunity for you!
Here are the tools of knowledge that you will need to develop a great skill level and confidence in your business. Please take the time to read and study I would even recommend you print them out and put in a folder for easy reference.

Happy New Year!
What has this year got in store for you? Is this going to be another year that happens or a year that you are going to make happen?
The choice is yours to chart your future success. Nothing happens with out a clear plan of action a plan that needs to have clear written goals with a deadline.
Your Goals Work Like Magic
There is a study of alumni 10 years out of Harvard that showed a stunning 83 percent had degrees but no goals as all, 14 percent had defined, specific objectives for themselves, but never wrote them down.
The group with goals earned an average of three times the income of the group without them.
But Here Comes The Blow Away Stat
The remaining 3 percent of the graduates who had specific goals AND wrote them down, earned an average of 10 times what the 83 percent group did.
We have to assume the same principle is true for all of us. When you write goals down in clear, precise terms, in activates your reticular activation system or RAS. Understanding that your RAS is like a scanner in your brain and it looks for what you tell it to focus on. It filters out distractions and focuses on what you do want. It becomes a logical step in the goal setting process and offers a process for setting goals.
When you commit yourself to written goals you will have a destination to target. Setting precise goals will set your brain to achieve those goals. High achievers are not 10 to 20 times more intelligent than other people their power comes from the methods, resources and focus they use. Use these best practice tips to set your goals:
Develop Exactitude
Your goal shouldn’t be: “I want to make more money.” It’s too vague and subjective. What income do you want to make specifically? How much more specifically?
Determine The Most Important Things
If you list 20 goals for your financial future you might feel overwhelmed because you can’t achieve all of them right away, it just isn’t realistic. Instead, decide: What are the most important things on my list? Focus on those goals first.
Find A Mentor
Choose someone you respect and who has accomplished what you’re setting out to do. Then just ask would you be willing to mentor me? You can tell your prospective mentor how the mentoring relationship will benefit him or her too. You can contribute your talents free of charge, meet at the mentor’s office for convenience – any number of options. Just don’t let your fear of imposition get in the way of asking.
In Mary Kay we have a mentor who has pioneered a path for women over the past four decades. This week I would like to share her words of wisdom along with the passion she had in creating this amazing company.
Now is the time to set your goals for the next twelve months and Mary Kay can be the vehicle to achieve them. Please feel free to call me for a one-to-one coaching session to make a plan in order to achieve those goals.

Mary Kay Au Naturale
I am sure you were SHOCKED to see me in a bathrobe when I filmed this week’s Mondays with Julie! The purpose of coming to you in a natural state was that I wanted to share my pyjama day with you and for you to maybe contemplate the same sort of self-indulgence on a semi regular basis.
I Got To Thinking While In The Steam Room…
…how similar life is; you know when you are excited about new possibilities everything is crystal clear and example might be water, then as things get more challenging we become frozen that might be an ice block but then we get excited and generate a bit of momentum that might be the steam! I hear you say … she has lost it!
Not at all my mind just works a little out side the square and if you are feeling a little frustrated or lack some motivation you just need to build a little more steam and get your goals crystallised and then back them up with a plan to execute them.
As you didn’t see in the video I was indulging my self with the new time-wise gel mask I am sure that you and you customers are going to love it.

A Mary Kay Cosmetics Success Story
This week I have a little more to share from our Townsville workshop. Last week you saw the video of Melanie Cazzulino and learnt more about her journey to directorship. This week I would like to introduce Trinette Lee who is a brand new consultant. Trinette had a great first class introducing her first team member. You will also meet our current miss go-give Wendy Murcia she is a gem and I just love having her as part of the Davis Dream Team.
It has been a very busy week for me catching up! We are just about to have a lovely break with Easter I am looking forward to spending time at home doing all those things I never get around to.

I love reading success stories don’t you? In Mary Kay we never know what is around the corner in our lives and when we really need to take advantage of what Mary Kay has to offer. This week I would like to introduce you to Director Jen Ratcliffe she has had an amazing journey in Mary Kay and is an inspiration to me.
My Journey
BY Jen Ratcliffe

My Mary Kay Journey began in 1997, I joined when my husband Brad was put out of work in his carpentry position. I had been married for only 5 months and my friend, Maxine Oates had been my ‘person’ for my wedding make-up, I loved it! I thought the products were great! When she discovered the predicament we were in, she called and invited me to enjoy a Mary Kay class and attend her Unit meeting with her Director, Elaine Hutchison. I had no intentions whatsoever of joining Mary Kay, but I did think it was lovely that she thought of me… I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Unit meeting, the friendliness, the fun and just the general ‘vibe’! I thought I would give Mary Kay 6 months, or until Brad found a new job…I was teaching full-time with Life Education, I really enjoyed teaching children about health and drug education & Mary Kay worked wonderfully alongside of my teaching. Suffice to say, I certainly didn’t give Mary Kay away after 6 months, my blood tuned pink and I started to see an amazing & unlimited future for me & my family!
In February 2002, 4 ½ years after joining Mary Kay, I debuted as a new Director! By that time our first son, Cameron was 14 months old and I definitely wasn’t going back to teaching. I knew that I could have become a Director sooner, but I had to believe in me…(others had believed in me for quite a while.) The story that I told myself was that I was too young and how would I be able to lead a Unit at only 27 years of age? Obviously, I got over myself and realised that the Mary Kay opportunity was bigger than me and who was I not to share this with others?
The most exciting thing about doing the work to become a Director was qualifying to go to the Dallas Seminar! It was such an inspiring and awesome experience to visit the home of Mary Kay and meet the people I had only read about! Upon returning home from Dallas, I fell pregnant with our second son, Coby and grew our Unit by 22 in one month! (It was a very productive month!) Soon after, I debuted two offspring Directors and took delivery of my first pink car at 7 months pregnant! Where else other than Mary Kay would you be driving a company car at 7 months pregnant? There really are no limits in this business! It’s not a real job, it’s an ‘unreal’ job!
During 2003, life started to happen in a way that I could never have prepared for or been ready for…Our world went into a crazy spin when we noticed our 2 ½ year old son, Cameron, was not developing in the way he should…he stopped talking, withdrew from us and the world and started to display some unusual, fixed & repetitive behaviours…initially we thought it was just ‘him’, but the reality was the problems with Cameron weren’t going away anytime soon…he was diagnosed with autism. Anyone who has experienced anything like knows that it is a cyclical grieving process. It wasn’t an easy thing to come to terms with. My Mary Kay business was a welcome relief from the emotional & mental struggle I was experiencing with Cam, and I strongly believe it helped me to face the situation with him in a much more positive way than I otherwise would have.
I thought that life was already challenging enough, but at the end of 2004 I suddenly lost my brother, Henry at 32 years of age and I didn’t know how I would cope as life seemed so overwhelming…I thought my grief would completely engulf me. As it turned out, I didn’t have time focus on how I wasn’t going to cope, as only 6 weeks later, Brad was put out of work (again) and so we chose to make Mary Kay our only thing…our only source of income! I discovered that the Mary Kay adage of “work will win where wishing won’t” was actually true! Going to work was actually a fantastic way to positively focus on what I could change, rather than the circumstances in life I couldn’t change…Circumstances happen to us all, and when we cannot change those circumstances, we need to learn to master ourselves in those circumstances. I went to work when I didn’t feel like it, I made calls I didn’t feel like making, I ran meetings that I didn’t always feel like running, but I did something that I call ‘suck it up and turn it on’ and I was amazed at what good therapy it was! That was a few years ago, and the results in my life and my business have been evident!
I wish I could say that life got easier, but that was not the reality of the situation…much to my dismay, our youngest son, Coby was also diagnosed with autism and again, to cope, I chose to focus on living my life with purpose to make a positive impact in the lives of those I came into contact with. Being a Mary Kay Director gave me the freedom to take Coby to 3 playgroups a week. I was able to co-ordinate a playgroup especially for children with autism and their families. These types of services are desperately needed as there is an astounding lack of services and funding for children with autism. Brad & I are passionate about doing what we can to improve the situation in the future, by raising awareness, fundraising and meeting with politicians and letting them know what needs to be done.
I learned many things in the past few years about myself and life. Sweating the small stuff is no longer an option… My approach is that if it’s fixable, it’s not an issue! I learned to choose positivity over pity. I am so inspired by my parents and the way they have chosen to use their experience to support others and make a difference! My children teach me every day not to take anything for granted and they inspire me with the way they grow and learn about their world even though they are totally out of their comfort zone. I have had to see things in life from a different perspective and I have found that my Mary Kay business brings me untold joy as I can focus on enriching someone else’s life. I have learned that we cannot always control what happens in life, but we can control our response to what happens.
Thirteen years ago, I didn’t know what a blessing my Mary Kay business would become, but God did and I am so thankful for what has been offered to me. This year, it has been my honour and thrill to achieve the company Queen of Sharing and my first Top Director Trip! It was a dream come true to take Brad on our first overseas trip together! The five all-expenses paid overseas trips, diamond jewellery, pink cars and awesome income have been so exciting, but the freedom I have in my lifestyle and choices I can make as a result of Mary Kay are priceless! I believe that the influence Mary Kay has had on my life has truly helped me to deal with the life’s challenges in a much more positive way… I have chosen to live in victory rather than as a victim. My passionate purpose is to help other women realise they have the power to become anything they want in life!
That’s all for this week I will be back after the Easter break

Mary Kay In Ayr And Townsville
This week Mondays with Julie is coming to you from Ayr North Queensland. Wow what a great weekend we had!
I arrived in Townsville on Saturday morning and was greeted by Wendy Murcia, we then drove an hour up the highway to Ayr. The rest of the day was spent catching up on news, training, laughing and having lots of fun!
On Saturday evening we went to a lovely little restaurant in Ayr where we enjoyed a beautiful meal with champagne. The dinner was a challenge that was put out based on sales and team building.
Up bright and early on Sunday ready for more training and a guest workshop in the afternoon. It was just great meeting new team members Melissa and Trinny we talked about what truly is possible in a Mary Kay business. We also talked about what is required to become skilled and the importance of setting weekly and monthly goals and having support and accountability to achieve those targets.
One of the highlights of our training on Sunday was a 30 minute call with National Sales Director Johneen Todd who held an open forum for the girls to ask any burning questions they had about their business. Thank you Johneen we really appreciate that you took time out of you day to share your journey in Mary Kay.
Melanie shared her vision about becoming a director and can hardly contain her excitement. She has a solid plan for growth over the coming quarter with a goal of earning a pearl for her ladder and a medal each month. Melanie is our special guest on this week’s Mondays with Julie.
